Data used to answer a planning request
SkyWindow uses a place ID or coordinates to calculate an eclipse result and request weather for that response. The eclipse calculation uses the coordinates supplied for that request. Before requesting and caching weather, SkyWindow rounds coordinates to a roughly one-kilometre grid; that approximate weather response may remain in Cloudflare’s shared cache for up to 24 hours. The exact coordinates are not written into that weather cache. Coordinates and free-text searches are not added to the custom analytics payload. Query-driven pages are marked not to be indexed and use a canonical URL without the query.
First-party events and aggregate performance analytics
SkyWindow sends a small allowlisted set of product events to its own /api/events.json endpoint and stores them in first-party Analytics Engine. Those event payloads contain an event name, locale, and eclipse event ID; some planner actions may also contain a country code or reviewed place ID. The official_stream_opened event contains only the event name, locale, and eclipse event ID. It does not contain a destination URL, query, IP address, user-agent string, email address, or visitor identifier. Workers Analytics Engine currently retains these event records for three months.
Separately, aggregate Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page use and performance through Cloudflare’s browser beacon. SkyWindow loads that beacon only on the production hostname and only for clean URLs: a page with query parameters does not load the Web Analytics beacon. The site introduces no cookies, localStorage, or browser fingerprint for either analytics path. Cloudflare processes performance data and normal request metadata as the infrastructure provider; normal HTTP handling can include a source IP address and user-agent string even though SkyWindow does not put those fields in its custom event payload.
SkyWindow does not enable advertising scripts or reminder collection. Analytics failures do not block links, calculations, or navigation. Contact the editor if you have a privacy question or need a correction.
